Calvin Peete died on Wednesday, April 29, at the age of 71. He was among a small but influential group of African Americans who were trailblazers in professional golf. Peete, whose 12 PGA Tour victories include the 1985 Players Championship, was known for his unmatched accuracy off the tee, as he led the Tour in driving accuracy for 10 consecutive seasons. He also compiled an impressive playing record in USGA championships (above). The USGA mourns his loss and celebrates his achievements as a player and a pioneer.
