On Friday, Lion Kim and David McDaniel advanced to Saturday’s scheduled 36-hole U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. After a long day with two rounds of quarterfinal and semifinal play, Kim and McDaniel still had another nine ahead of them.

Following are a list of non-championship related questions. First to the tee was Kim.

Lion Kim

1.: If you could run golf for a day, what one change would you make?
Kim: That we can ride in golf carts.

2.: What are the three songs most listened to on your iPod?
Kim: I listen to a lot of Korean music. A lot of people ask me what Korean music is like and I tell them it’s the same [as American music] but in a different language, basically.

3.: Favorite actress?
Kim: Kate Beckinsale.

4.: Favorite club in your bag and favorite shot?
Kim: Putter, and I guess I would like to hole out to win a tournament.

5.: One thing people would be surprised to find out about you?
Kim: To be honest, I watch more Korean reality TV shows.

6.: If you could play one course for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Kim: This golf course [the Champions Course at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center].

7.: If you could have a dream foursome that could not include your dad or Tiger Woods who would be in it?
Kim: Kate Beckinsale, my Mom and then Jesus Christ, my Lord.

8: One thing that irritates you on the golf course?
Kim: When my opponents play really slow. That’s what really irritates me.

9: If you couldn’t play golf, what would you do?
Kim: I would like to be one of those Formula 1 drivers. NASCAR is too redneck for me.

David McDaniel

1.: If you could run golf for a day, what one change would you make?
McDaniel: I would make Tiger [Woods] play more tournaments.

2.: What are the three songs most listened to on your iPod?
McDaniel: I lost my iPod a while ago.

3.: Favorite actress?
McDaniel: Megan Fox.

4.: Favorite club in your bag and favorite shot?
McDaniel: The 8-iron has been good to me.

5.: One thing people would be surprised to find out about you?
McDaniel: That I don’t practice at a golf course, but that I practice at a driving range every day. So I rarely play.

6.: If you could one course for the rest of your life, what would it be?
McDaniel: In 2007 I played the U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club. I really liked that.

7.: If you could have a dream foursome that could not include your dad or Tiger Woods who would be in it?
McDaniel: Definitely Mac O’Grady because he’s my swing guy. But I don’t know him really well; I’ve only seen him once. But he’s helped me a lot. I guess two other really good players … I’ve got to go with Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els.

8: One thing that irritates you on the golf course?
McDaniel: Rain. Because I’m from Tucson and it rarely rains there.

9: If you couldn’t play golf, what would you do?
McDaniel: Whew. That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I really don’t have … I got my degree and just started playing. I was supposed to be a teacher, but I dropped that major.
