Fort Myers, Fla. – Four players earned match play berths at the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur after a playoff. The cut came at 165, 21 over par, with six players playing for four spots. Before Sunday’s playoff was suspended due to darkness, Cheryl Damphouse of Canada and Barbara Byrnes of Mesa, Ariz., won berths with par-4s on the first playoff hole.
The remaining four players proceeded to the 11th hole, a par 5, and all made bogey. On the 12th hole, a par 4, Kerry Rutan of Ambler, Pa., was eliminated when she made a bogey. Char McClear of McHenry, Ill., and Alexandria Frazier of Haverford, Pa., bogeyed the par-3 13th hole but won the last two spots in match play. Judy Miller of Tucson was eliminated when she made a double bogey.
