Bellingham (Wash.) Golf & Country Club 

Grace Chua, of Canada, received the 2011 Mizuno All Canadian Award, from the Canadian Junior Golf Association. The award is presented to junior golfers who display a commitment to the game of golf, academics and community volunteerism.

Jordan Ferreira, of University Place, Wash., was the 2011 Washington State Golf Association’s Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.

Lisa Ferrero, of Lodi, Calif., won the 2000 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.

Jessi Gebhardt, of Chandler, Ariz., and Christina Proteau, of Canada, competed in the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open at The Broadmoor after sharing medalist honors at the Vancouver, Wash., sectional qualifier.

Emma Talley, of Princeton, Ky., played in the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open after qualifying as an alternate at the Wilmette, Ill., sectional. She has committed to play golf for the University of Alabama. 

Kim Welch, of Roseville, Calif., is a graduate of Washington State University and won the Golf Channel’s Big Break Ka’anapali.

Collegiate Golfers 

From UCLA: Erynne Lee, of Silverdale, Wash.; and Kyle Roig, of Pembroke Pines, Fla. Lee won the 2012 Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. She competed in the 2008 and 2011 U.S. Women’s Opens, and advanced to the semifinals at the 2008 Women’s Amateur. Roig won the 2010 Harder Hall Invitational, and has represented her birth country of Puerto Rico at three Women’s World Amateur Team Championships.

Also competing are Lee’s younger sister, Katie Lee, of Silverdale, Wash., and her cousin, Cherokee Kim, of Dupont, Wash.

Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club, Ormond Beach, Fla. 

Shannon Aubert, of Champions Gate, Fla., won the 2012 Kathy Whitworth Invitational.

Shasta Averyhardt, of Orlando, Fla., qualified for the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. Also in 2010, she became only the fourth African-American woman to earn LPGA Tour membership, and is currently playing on the LPGA’s Symetra Tour.

Jessica Carafiello, of Coral Springs, Fla., qualified for the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open.

Sandra Changkija, of Orlando, Fla., graduated from Nova Southeastern University, where she was a member of three NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship-winning teams (2009-11) and won the 2010 individual title.

Laura Diaz, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., has two LPGA Tour victories: the 2002 Welch’s/Circle K Championship and 2002 LPGA Corning Classic. She has represented the USA on four Solheim Cup Teams, and has competed in 11 Women’s Open.

Lindy Duncan, of Davie, Fla., is a member of the 2012 USA Curtis Cup Team. A junior at Duke University, Duncan won the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship title and also led the golf team to the team victory. Her four victories in the 2011-12 season earned her ACC Player of the Year honors. She qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open and made the cut, finishing as the second-lowest amateur.

Veronica Felibert, of Miami Beach, Fla., qualified for the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open.

Yueer Feng, of Orlando, Fla., qualified for the 2009 and 2010 U.S. Women’s Opens. She won the 2010 Rolex Girls Championship.

Jaye Marie Green, of Boca Raton, Fla., received a sponsor’s exemption into the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship, where she made the cut. She won the 2011 South Atlantic Amateur Championship (the SALLY), and qualified for the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open.

Nicole Jeray, of Berwyn, Ill., reached the semifinals of the 1991 and 1992 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links. Jeray suffers from narcolepsy, and has become an advocate for those who struggle with the disorder.

Mitsuki Karahira, of Ormond Beach, Fla., who was born in Japan, won the 2010 and 2011 National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship titles while attending Daytona State University.

Stefanie Kenoyer, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., qualified for the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open as an amateur.

Jee Young Lee, of Korea, finished seventh at the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles Lodge & G.C. in Southern Pines, N.C., and tied for second at the RICOH Women’s British Open the same year. She won the LPGA Tour’s 2005 CJ Nine Bridges Classic.

Rebecca Lee-Bentham, of Canada, qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open. She won the 2011 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship.

Garrett Phillips, of Saint Simons Island, Ga., qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open.

Sherri Pla, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was inducted into the Florida Atlantic University’s Athletic Hall of Fame after participating in basketball, softball, golf and cross country. A point guard, she holds the school record for career steals and scored more than 1,000 points in her collegiate career. She also has a brief stint as a professional softball player.

Meghan Stasi, of Oakland Park, Fla., is a three-time champion of the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and was a member of the 2008 USA Curtis Cup Team. She won the 2012 Ione D. Jones/Doherty Championship and the 2012 Florida Women’s Amateur.

Kris Tamulis, of Tampa, Fla., has competed in three U.S. Women’s Opens (2002, 2004, 2007).

Briana Vega, of Reunion, Fla., competed in the 2004 and 2009 U.S. Women’s Opens. She won the Golf Channel’s Big Break VI: Trump National in 2006.

Collegiate Golfers 

From University of Florida: Isabelle Lendl and Mia Piccio, both of Gainesville, Fla. Lendl is the daughter of eight-time tennis Grand Slam champion and Hall of Famer Ivan Lendl, while Piccio represented her native Philippines at the 2010 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship.

Jill Briles-Hinton, of Glen Allen, Va., is the women’s golf coach at the University of Richmond in Virginia.

Wendy Doolan, an Australian native who now lives in Lakeland, Fla., is a three-time LPGA Tour winner, including the 2004 Evian Masters. She has competed in six U.S. Women’s Opens, with a best finish of seventh in 2001 at Pine Needles.

Mi Jung Hur, of Korea, has competed in the last three Women’s Opens, with a best finish of 31st in 2010 at Oakmont. Until recently, she played as M.J. Hur.

Jeong Jang, of Korea, won the 2005 RICOH Women’s British Open. She has competed in nine U.S. Women’s Open, and tied for sixth in 2003 at Pumpkin Ridge.

Ariya Jutanugarn, of Thailand, won the 2011 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open. She was the low amateur at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2011 and 2012. Her sister, Moriya, is exempt into the 2012 Women’s Open for being the runner-up at the 2011 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Ayaka Kaneko, of Honolulu, Hawaii, was the runner-up at the 2007 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. She competed in the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open at Newport (R.I.) Country Club.

Jennie Lee, of Henderson, Nev., has competed in four U.S. Women’s Opens (2004, 2006-2008) and represented the USA at the Curtis Cup Match in 2006 and 2008. At the 2007 Women’s Open, Lee tied with fellow Colts Neck participant Jennifer Song for low-amateur honors.

Seonhwa Lee, a Korean native who lives in Lake Mary, Fla., has four wins on the LPGA Tour, most recently in 2008 at the Walmart (then P&G Beauty) NW Arkansas Championship. She has competed in seven U.S. Women’s Opens.

Jordan Lintz, of Milford, Conn., is an assistant women’s golf coach at Sacred Heart University.

Janice Moodie, of Scotland, has two career LPGA Tour victories and has competed in nine Women’s Opens, most recently in 2010. She has played on three European Solheim Cup Teams, and was a member of the 1994 and 1996 GB&I Curtis Cup Teams.

Annie Park, of Levittown, N.Y., was a semifinalist at the 2011 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.

Grace Park, of Scottsdale, Ariz., has six career LPGA victories, including the 2004 Kraft Nabisco Championship. The 1998 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion has competed in eight U.S. Women’s Opens, most recently in 2008. She tied for sixth at her first Women’s Open at The Merit Club in 2000.

Stephanie Sherlock, of Canada, was a semifinalist at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Jennifer Song, of Orlando, Fla., won the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championships, making her one of two women to win multiple USGA championships in one year. She was a member of the victorious 2010 USA Curtis Cup Team. She has competed in three Women’s Opens, tying with fellow Colts Neck participant Jennie Lee for low-amateur honors in 2007.

Sisters Camilla (17) and Susana (13) Vik, of Greenwich, Conn., are also in the field.

Alison Lee, of Valencia, Calif., won the 2012 Legacy Junior Challenge, which earned her a spot in the field at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. She competed in the 2009 and 2010 Women’s Open, and made the cut in 2009.

At nine years old, Lucy Li, of Redwood Shores, Calif., is the youngest player in U.S. Women’s Open sectional qualifying.

Mo Martin, of Altadena, Calif., competed in the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open.

Nina Rodriguez, of San Jose, Calif., was a contestant on Big Break Ireland.

Seema Sadekar, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Maiya Tanaka, of San Diego, Calif., were contestants on Big Break Sandals.

Erica Wicoff, of El Dorado Hills, Calif., has competed in five Women’s Opens, most recently in 2007. A graduate of Indiana University, she was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Wicoff was the medalist at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 1994 and 1995.

Twins Alexandra and Andrea Wong, of San Francisco, Calif., are Junior Merit members at Lake Merced Golf Club, site of the 2012 U.S. Girls’ Junior. Alexandra, who won the 2012 San Francisco City Women’s Championship, has committed to attend Princeton University, while Andrea is committed to U.C. Davis.

Jennifer Hong, of Granger, Ind., won the 2005 Women’s Western Amateur Championship and was the runner-up in 2006.

Naon Min, of Orlando, Fla., and Korea, finished third at the 2007 LPGA Championship. She has competed in three Women’s Opens.

Juliana Murcia Ortiz, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., was a member of Arizona State University’s winning team at the 2009 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship.

Ji Young Oh, of Duluth, Ga., and Korea, competed in the 2008-10 Women’s Opens. She has two LPGA victories – the 2008 LPGA State Farm Classic and 2009 Sybase Match Play Championship.

Jin Young Pak of Orlando, Fla., and Korea, qualified for the 2011 Women’s Open.

Jane Park, of Seal Beach, Calif., has competed in eight Women’s Opens, and was the low amateur at the 2006 championship when she tied for 10th. Park won the 2004 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, and was the runner up at the 2003 Women’s Amateur and the 2004 Girls’ Junior. She was a member of the 2004 and 2006 USA Curtis Cup Teams and the 2004 USA Women’s World Amateur Team.

Zakiya Randall, of Atlanta, Ga., is a contestant on the Golf Channel’s Big Break Atlantis.

Reilley Rankin, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., has competed in three Women’s Opens.

Candace Schepperle, of Birmingham, Ala., competed in the 2009 Women’s Open as an amateur. In 2010, she won the CN Canadian Tour event in Ottawa, also as an amateur.

Mariah Stackhouse, of Riverdale, Ga., qualified for the 2011 Women’s Open. She was a member of Georgia’s winning team at the 2009 USGA Women’s State Team Championship. Stackhouse has committed to play collegiate golf at Stanford University.

Victoria Tanco, of Argentina, had a successful amateur career, winning the 2008 AJGA Rolex Girls, 2009 AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions, 2010 AJGA Annika Invitational and 2011 Western Amateur Championship. She turned pro after earning her LPGA Tour card in December 2011.

Christine Wolf, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Austria, qualified for the 2011 Women’s Open. She is a graduate assistant on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s golf staff. She played four years for the Mocs, and is currently pursuing an MBA.

Allisen Corpuz, of Honolulu, became the youngest championship competitor in USGA history at age 10 when she qualified for the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links, surpassing Michelle Wie. She attends the Punahou School, which also produced President Barack Obama, Wie, the 2003 Women’s Amateur Public Links champion, and 2010 USA Curtis Cup Team member Stephanie Kono.

There is another Punahou School player in the field – Kacie Komoto, of Honolulu.

Mariel Galdiano, of Pearl City, Hawaii, was the youngest qualifier for the 2011 Women’s Open at age 13.

Kimberly Kim, of Mililani, Hawaii, won the 2006 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at age 14 and remains that championship’s youngest winner. She is also a two-time USGA runner-up (2009 WAPL and U.S. Girls’ Junior), and represented the USA at the 2006 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship and 2008 and 2010 Curtis Cup Matches. Kim has competed in four Women’s Opens.

Chawwadee Rompothong, of New Haven, Conn., is the women’s golf coach at Yale University. She was a member of the Yale team that won three Ivy League titles in the late 1990s.

Cindy Schreyer, of Brookline, Mass., won the 1986 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship and was a member of the 1986 USA Curtis Cup Team.

Nicole Scola, of Westerly, R.I., was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 12.

Laura Shanahan-Rowe, of Hampton, N.H., won the 2001 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Karolyne Shieh, of Carlisle, Mass, won the 2011 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s girls’ individual state championship. She is also a competitive figure skater and has qualified for the U.S. Junior National Figure Skating Championship.

Jaclyn Sweeney, of Bradenton, Fla., was a tri-medalist at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. She qualified for the 2011 Women’s Open.

Alison Walshe, of Jupiter, Fla., was a member of the 2008 USA Curtis Cup and Women’s World Amateur Teams. She has competed in three Women’s Opens.

Kelly Whaley, of Farmington, Conn., won the 2011 Connecticut Women’s Amateur. She is the daughter of Suzy Whaley, a renowned golf professional and instructor who qualified for the PGA Tour’s 2003 Greater Hartford Open after winning the 2002 Connecticut Section PGA Championship.

Casey Danielson, of Osceola, Wis., was a quarterfinalist at the 2011 Women’s Amateur Championship. She won the 2009 and 2010 Wisconsin state girls’ golf championship, while her older sister, Lindsay (who is entered in the Wayzata, Minn., qualifier), won the title in the four previous years. Her brother, Charlie, also won the 2010 boys’ title.

Jamie Fischer, of Wilmette, Ill., has competed in three Women’s Opens.

Junthima Numa Gulyanammitta, of West Lafayette, Ind., was a member of Purdue University’s winning team at the 2010 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. Gulyanammitta, who tied for 15th at the 2011 Women’s Open, is the younger sister of 2000 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links runner-up Russamee Gulyanammitta.

Laura Kueny, of Whitehall, Minn., competed in the 2010 Women’s Open.

Abby Pearson, of Kalamazoo, Mich., competed in the 2003 Women’s Open.

Meghan Sobotta, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., is in her second year as head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s golf team.

On Sept. 22, 2000, Alexandra Braga, of Sun Valley, Calif., was crushed by a 2-ton tree while on a school camping trip at age 16. Over the ensuing three months, she endured 35 surgeries to reconstruct her shattered pelvis.
