Kyung Kim, 18, of Chandler, Ariz. The 2012 Women’s Amateur Public Links is the first USGA championship in which Kim has advanced past the round of 32. Father, Douglas Kim, is her caddie. 2012 WAPL is Kim’s first time competing in match play since Sept. 2011. Competed in six previous USGA championships: three U.S. Girls’ Juniors (2006, 2007, 2009); two Women’s Amateur Public Links (2007, 2010); and one U.S. Women’s Open (2011). Will compete in next month's U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run; got into the field as an alternate when Jiyai Shin withdrew two weeks ago with an injury...Lowest competitive score is 65. Has had four holes-in-one in her career, most recently at Seville Country Club in 2012. When not playing golf, Kim enjoys lazy days watching television or hanging out with friends.
Ashlan Ramsey, 16, of Milledgeville, Ga. Would be the youngest Women’s Amateur Public Links champion since 15-year-old Yani Tseng claimed the title in 2004. Played in two previous USGA championships, the 2011 WAPL (lost in round of 64) and 2011 U.S, Girl’s Junior, where she advanced to the round of 16. At age 8, she was persuaded by her father, Al Ramsey, to begin playing golf. Currently ranked fifth by Golfweek junior rankings and seventh by American Junior Golf Association Polo junior rankings. Has been taking golf lessons from Todd Anderson of Sea Island, Ga., for four years. Lowest competitive score is 66. Most memorable golf moment was playing Augusta National in 2006 with her father and her sister, Taylor, where she shot an 87 at the age of 10.
