Lake Orion, Mich. – Nick Price withdrew from the 2012 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Monday because of a family emergency.
The alternate who will take his place is Douglas Snoap, an amateur from Apopka, Fla., who competed in sectional qualifying on June 25 in Dunedin, Fla. (Dunedin Country Club). Snoap, who will play in his first U.S. Senior Open, shot a round of 71 to earn the first alternate position.
Snoap will tee off at 8:40 a.m. EDT on Thursday from the 10th tee with past major champions Tom Watson and Fred Couples.
Also on Monday, D.A. Weibring withdrew with an Achilles injury.
The alternate who will take his place is Ron Gonzalez, a professional from Goodyear, Ariz., who competed in sectional qualifying on June 18 in Glendale, Ariz. (Arrowhead Country Club). Gonzalez, who will play in his first USGA championship, shot a round of 71 to earn the first alternate position.
Gonzalez will tee off at 12:50 p.m. EDT on Thursday from the 10th tee with Mike Goodes and Jay Don Blake.
Bruce Fleisher, the 2001 champion, also withdrew from the Senior Open because of a hand injury.
The alternate who will take his place is Rick Lewallen, a professional from Kannapolis, N.C., who competed in sectional qualifying on June 19 in Greensboro, N.C. (Forest Oaks Country Club). Lewallen, who will play in his second U.S. Senior Open, shot a round of 70 to earn the first alternate position.
Lewallen will tee off at 8 a.m. EDT on Thursday from the first tee with Michael Reid and 1999 champion Dave Eichelberger.
