Due to the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 75th U.S. Women’s Open has been postponed. The new championship dates are December 7-13.
The decision to postpone did not come lightly, but we feel it gives us the best opportunity to conduct the championship this year while ensuring the safety of all involved. We’re sure this news sparks a lot of questions for volunteers, so please know we stand ready to assist. We have developed the below FAQs to quickly answer some of your more basic questions.
While it is certainly disappointing to have to delay an event we have worked so hard on, we remain optimistic and excited to celebrate this milestone championship later this year.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach us at 2020uswomensopen@usga.org. We will continue to communicate any changes in a timely fashion, and look forward to working with all of you over the coming months.
FAQs
How do I confirm that I would like to volunteer for the new dates?
If you are still interested in volunteering for the 75th U.S. Women’s Open, your status as a volunteer will not change. Once this news has settled, you will receive an email to re-select your specific shift availability for the new dates of the championship. Please expect further detailed communications over the next month as we finalize more details related to this date change.
What do I do if I cannot volunteer for the new dates?
If you cannot join us in December, please email 2020uswomensopen@usga.org and our team will assist in removing you from the volunteer portal within a few days.
Will I remain on the same committee I was previously assigned to?
With play being extended to a second golf course, certain committees may require slight changes in volunteer numbers that could cause certain committees to need either additional or fewer volunteers. While we don’t expect most committee assignments to change, any alterations to your role will be communicated as soon as possible, but you will not lose your status as a volunteer. We will also continue to update all volunteers with information and key dates as they become available.
Time Commitment
All volunteers for the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open Championship will volunteer for a minimum of four (4) shifts with each shift lasting between five (5) to six (6) hours. Volunteers will not be paid wages or compensated in any other manner in exchange for their volunteer activities.
