Although she was born in Japan, Anai spent most of her teenage years in Massachusetts. She attended Lexington High and won a high school state individual title in 2005 before moving back to Japan to pursue her professional golf dreams. She has posted three victories on the LPGA Tour of Japan, the last coming in the 2019 NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament. She also won the 2016 Golf5 Ladies and 2017 Century21 Ladies Golf Tournament and has seven runner-up finishes.
