Schmelzel will make her second consecutive U.S. Women’s Open start thanks to being No. 135 in the Rolex Rankings. Schmelzel missed the cut in last year’s championship at the Country Club of Charleston. She began her professional career on the Symetra Tour in 2018, recording seven top-10 finishes to finish 13th on the money list. She then qualified for the LPGA Tour in 2019 via the inaugural Q Series. Her best finish thus far in 2020 is a tie for sixth in the LPGA Drive On Championship at Inverness Club in late July.
