The long-hitting Texan, who was the runner-up in the 2005 U.S. Women’s Open as an amateur, won the championship in 2016 at CordeValle in a three-hole aggregate playoff over Anna Nordqvist. It was Lang’s second professional victory, six years after she became the first player from Duke University to win on the LPGA Tour. Lang’s maiden triumph was the 2012 Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. Born in Richmond, Va., and raised in McKinney, Texas, Lang enjoyed a highly successfully junior and amateur career, which culminated in playing on the victorious 2004 USA Curtis Cup Team along with fellow future U.S. Women’s Open champions Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer. During her two years at Duke, Lang won six college tournaments. As a professional, Lang has represented the USA in four Solheim Cups (2009, 2011, 2013 and 2013). In January, Lang and her husband, Kevin Spann, welcomed their first child, a girl named Shay.
