By tying for fifth in this year’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, Shin punched her ticket to the U.S. Women’s Open. This will be the 11th U.S. Women’s Open start for the 2006 U.S. Girls’ Junior champion, who defeated Vicky Hurst in 37 holes at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. Shin was born in the Republic of Korea, but spent a majority of her childhood in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, Calif. She turned professional in 2010, and her only LPGA Tour victory to date is the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.
