Carded a final-round 68 to finish in a tie for ninth in the 2020 KPMG PGA Championship to punch her ticket to Champions Golf Club. This will be Stephenson’s third U.S. Women’s Open start, but first as a professional. Played a memorable 30-hole quarterfinal match in the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur, losing on the 12th extra hole to 13-year-old Chia Yen Wu. It was the longest 18-hole match in USGA history. The next year, she lost another extra-hole match in the semifinals. Stephenson played one season at Clemson before transferring to Alabama for her final two seasons (she turned pro after her junior year). She was a member of the victorious 2018 USA Curtis Cup Team and won the 2018 Golfstat Cup as the nation’s leading scorer with a school-record 69.76 stroke average. In her rookie season on the LPGA Tour in 2019, she made 11 of 20 cuts to finish 90th on the money list.
