Thompson has been making headlines since she qualified for the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open at age 12. At the time, she was the youngest qualifier in championship history, but she was surpassed in 2014 by Lucy Li. Her decorated amateur career included winning the 2008 U.S. Girls’ Junior at age 13 and representing the USA in the 2010 Curtis Cup Match. She turned pro after the 2010 Curtis Cup at age 15 and registered her first victory a year later in the Navistar LPGA Classic. Her lone major triumph to date is the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship (now ANA Inspiration). Thompson, a native of Coral Springs, Fla., has two older brothers, Nicholas and Curtis, who are both professional golfers. Nicholas was a member of the victorious 2005 USA Walker Cup Team. She shared runner-up honors last year at the Country Club of Charleston.
