Reid’s maiden LPGA Tour victory in the 2020 ShopRite LPGA Classic earned her a spot in this year’s U.S. Women’s Open field. Reid posted a two-stroke victory over Jennifer Kupcho. Reid’s previous six victories had all come on the Ladies European Tour, the last being the 2017 Oates Victorian Open. She tied for 16th in the 2007 Women’s British Open to earn low-amateur honors. She also represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 2006 Curtis Cup Match. As a professional, she has competed on three European Solheim Cup Teams. In May 2012, tragedy struck Reid when her mother, Joy, was killed in an automobile accident near Munich, Germany, while traveling to see Mel play in a Ladies European Tour event. This will be her fifth U.S. Women’s Open start.
