Pressel burst onto the international scene as a 17-year-old amateur when she nearly won the 2005 U.S. Women’s Open at Cherry Hills Country Club. Birdie Kim’s remarkable hole-out from a greenside bunker on the 72nd hole left Pressel and fellow amateur Brittany Lang two strokes back. A month later, the Boca Raton, Fla., resident won the U.S. Women’s Amateur in dominating fashion. In 2007, Pressel became the youngest winner of a major championship at the age of 18 years, 313 days when she claimed the Kraft Nabisco Championship (now ANA Inspiration). That mark stood until Lydia Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship at 18 years, 4 months, 20 days. Pressel has also been a champion off the course, helping to raise millions of dollars for breast cancer research. Her mother, Kathy, passed away from breast cancer while Morgan was a teenager. Pressel’s younger sister, Madison, currently competes on the Symetra Tour. Pressel has represented her country in six Solheim Cups.
