Madsen is an up-and-coming Danish golfer who enjoyed success on the Symetra Tour, winning three times in 2017 to become the 12th player in history to earn an in-season promotion to the LPGA Tour. She also won the 2016 Tipsport Golf Masters on the Ladies European Tour. She is set to make her third start in the U.S. Women’s Open. Madsen played one semester at the University of South Carolina, winning one tournament, before deciding to turn professional in the fall of 2015. A year later, she represented Denmark in the Summer Olympics, tying for 13th. She also twice represented Denmark in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship (2012, 2014).
