McCauley is set to compete in her first U.S. Women’s Open after garnering the second of two spots on May 3 in Mendota Heights, Minn. The 17-year-old, who is home-schooled, birdied her final hole of the 36-hole event to edge 2012 USA Curtis Cup competitor Lindy Duncan by one stroke at 1-under 143. Last summer, McCauley outdueled her younger sister, Reese, to win the Minnesota State Girls’ Junior Championship. She also advanced to match play in the 2019 U.S. Girls’ Junior at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis.
