The native of Rockland, Mass., is making her ninth start in the U.S. Women’s Open with her best finish solo fifth in the 2020 championship at Champions Golf Club. Khang also was the low amateur (T-35) in 2015 at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club. Both of Khang’s parents came to the U.S. in the 1970s from Laos as refugees of Vietnam. Khang learned the game from her father and became one of the country’s top amateurs before turning pro in 2015. She reached the semifinals of the 2013 U.S. Girls’ Junior and was the stroke-play medalist in the 2015 U.S. Girls’ Junior.
