2022 U.S. Open: Volunteer Committees
19th Hole Marshals: Support the Hole & Grandstand Marshals Committee with additional volunteers as needed throughout the championship grounds. Responsibilities may include gallery control, ball spotting, operating crosswalks and facilitating player movement.
Admissions: Check fans for proper tickets or credentials when entering admission gates and help Will Call, as necessary. Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:30 AM EDT.
Ball Position: Assist in scoring using computer-operated laser devices to determine ball position information and record various aspects of player statistics, including but not limited to club selection, drive distance and distance to hole. May require the ability to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms. Previous experience, familiarity with technology and golf knowledge is preferred. This committee also requires additional training during practice rounds.
Corporate Hospitality: Assist at admission points for corporate hospitality locations, provide information to clients and assist them with hospitality functions as needed in their hospitality villages and areas.
Disability Services: Support fans who need special transportation assistance to various points and viewing areas on the championship grounds. Volunteers will monitor use of wheelchair seating in designated ADA grandstand viewing areas. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Fan Services: Manage information tents that will assist fans in the enjoyment of the championship as well as their visit to Brookline and the greater Boston area.
Leader Boards: Update on-course Leader Boards and Thru Boards with scores of the leaders and players in the championship. Volunteers may have to climb ladders and operate from elevated platforms.
Hole & Grandstand Marshals: Assist in gallery control along the rope lines and in the grandstands, facilitate player movement, help locate errant shots and operate fan crosswalks. Volunteers will be required to walk to assigned hole and stand for entire shift.
Merchandise: Assist in the fast-paced, air-conditioned Merchandise Pavilion. Volunteers will be assigned to one of many merchandising functions such as cashier, vendor support, product return and more. Volunteers will work alongside USGA staff, volunteers and golf apparel vendors.
On Course Distribution: Deliver and monitor water, ice and other supplies to various facilities on the course. May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:30 AM EDT. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
Practice Areas: Assist with the management of all practice areas including the driving range, short game area and practice putting green.
Sports Bar: Check fans for proper tickets or credentials when entering the Sports Bar upgraded ticket area and manage a concierge desk to assist fans with any questions.
Volunteer Services: Provide information to volunteers and manage the Volunteer Hospitality and Headquarters area.
