Road to Pine Needles: Top 75 in Rolex Rankings as of April 6

Furue will make her second U.S. Women's Open start by virtue of being among the top 75 in the Rolex Rankings as of April 6. She missed the cut in the all-exempt 2020 championship at Champions Golf Club in Houston. All seven of her professional victories have come on the LPGA Tour of Japan, including three in 2020 and 2021. Her last title was the Toto Japan Classic in November. She finished fourth in the Amundi Evian Championship in 2021, her best finish in four major-championship starts. Currently an LPGA Tour rookie, Furue nearly collected her first win on May 30, losing in the championship match to 2009 U.S. Women's Open champion Eun-Hee Ji.
