Road to Pine Needles: 2018 winner of Evian Championship

Finally captured that elusive major championship with a one-stroke win in the 2018 Evian Championship. Just prior to the rescheduled 2020 U.S. Women's Open at Champions Golf Club, she registered her seventh LPGA Tour victory at the Volunteers of America Classic in The Colony, Texas, where she held off past U.S. Women's Open champions Inbee Park and So Yeon Ryu, and 2018 U.S. Girls' Junior champion Yealimi Noh by two strokes. Fifteen years earlier, Stanford was involved in a three-way, 18-hole playoff for the U.S. Women’s Open title at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club’s Witch Hollow Course, losing out by one stroke to Hilary Lunke. Stanford’s first LPGA Tour win came in the 2003 ShopRite LPGA Classic. Her Evian victory ended a six-year drought on tour. Stanford was a member of the 2000 USA Curtis Cup Team and a semifinalist in the 2000 Ladies British Amateur. At Texas Christian, she posted nine victories and was a four-time All-American. As a professional, she has competed on six USA Solheim Cup Teams.
