Road to Pine Needles: Qualified at Gainey Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 26

Meadow will play in the U.S. Women’s Open for a seventh time after shooting 2-under 142 (70-72) to garner one of the three spots from the qualifier at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 26. Meadow, of Northern Ireland, enjoyed a highly successful professional debut in the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst, finishing third behind winner Michelle Wie and Stacy Lewis. That came a few weeks after representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup at St. Louis Country Club. Meadow, who also was on the victorious 2012 GB&I Curtis Cup Team, had a decorated amateur career, becoming the first four-time first-team All-American in Alabama women’s golf history while compiling a school-record nine victories. She helped the Crimson Tide to the 2012 NCAA title, the same year she won the Ladies British Amateur at Carnoustie. Also in 2012, she represented Northern Ireland in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship. Four years later, she represented Ireland in golf’s return to the Summer Olympics (T-31). The first of two professional victories came in the 2018 IOA Championship on the Symetra Tour (now Epson Tour). In 2019, she won the ISPS Handa Invitational at Galgorm Castle in Northern Ireland.
