For the second consecutive year, Chan garnered the one available spot in the Oahu Country Club qualifier in Hawaii, shooting a 36-hole total of 4-under-par 140 (74-66). This will be her fourth U.S. Open. While still a collegiate golfer at the University of Southern California, she represented Hong Kong China in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She first attended Daytona State College in Florida, where she captured a pair of NJCAA titles. She then transferred to USC for her final two years of eligibility. She represented Hong Kong China three times in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship (2010, 2012, 2014) before turning professional in 2017. Both of her professional victories came as an amateur: the 2015 LPGA of Taiwan Future Open and 2016 Hong Kong Ladies Open on the Ladies Asian Tour.
