Katherine Cox will be an intern for the USGA Green Section Southeast Region. She is a graduate student at the University of Florida completing the first year of a Master of Science in Agronomy degree working under Dr. Kevin Kenworthy. Katherine’s thesis focuses on testing drought tolerance in the germination stage of Zoysiagrass.

Katherine grew up in a rural community and has always been interested in the agricultural industry. Her father is an avid golfer and it was through his experiences of playing golf courses around the world that sparked her interest in the game. Working with turfgrass has been the perfect way to merge her love of agriculture and, in the process, bring her closer to her father and the game of golf.

In the future, Katherine hopes to work as a commercial agronomist or as an agronomy consultant.
