We are happy to announce that Chris Neff is joining the Green Section as an agronomist in our East Region, where he will be working closely with courses in the Southeast – including the Carolinas and northern Florida. Chris brings a wealth of experience to his new role after more than three decades working on golf courses. Before joining the Green Section, Chris served for nine years as the director of greens and grounds at Wexford in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where he excelled in cultivating zoysiagrass to the highest standards.
Chris’s journey in the field of agronomy began after graduating from the University of Florida in 1996, where he earned a degree in environmental horticulture with a specialization in turfgrass. After graduation, Chris had the invaluable opportunity to work as an assistant superintendent at TPC Sawgrass where he worked closely with his mentor, Fred Klauk. During his time there, Chris contributed to five Players Championships, further honing his agronomic skills and gaining valuable tournament experience. Later, Chris was hired as the golf course superintendent at Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. Under his leadership, the club hosted the 2002 U.S. Senior Amateur, which remains a cherished highlight of his career. After 13 successful years at Timuquana, Chris embraced a new chapter in his professional journey by joining Wexford. Now we are excited to welcome him to the Green Section’s staff of field agronomists.
Chris resides with his family in Bluffton, South Carolina. Outside of work, he indulges in his passions for music, golf and cheering on his beloved Florida Gators. With his extensive experience, passion for excellence and commitment to the field of agronomy, Chris will be a great resource for golf courses in the Southeast.
