Time Commitment

All volunteers for the 2022 U.S. Senior Open Championship will be required to work a minimum of four (4) shifts with each shift lasting between five (5) to six (6) hours.

Volunteer Uniform Package

Each volunteer will be asked to purchase their volunteer uniform package. Although the uniform has not been selected yet, we know the cost of the uniform package will be $95 + tax.  The uniform package will include the following:

  • Two (2) Cutter & Buck Championship Logoed Golf Shirts
  • One (1) Championship Logoed Hat or Visor
  • One (1) Championship Logoed Clear Drawstring Bag
  • One (1) Official Commemorative Lapel Pin
  • One (1) Championship Logoed Corkcicle Water Bottle
  • One (1) Credential valid for all seven (7) days of the championship. Volunteer credentials are specific to each volunteer and therefore are non-transferable
  • Complimentary food, snacks and beverages on the days you volunteer

Committee Assignment

The Volunteer Program will be comprised of nineteen (19) different committees. We will attempt to assign each volunteer to one of his or her top three committee preferences; however, in many cases this will not be possible due to the requests for certain committees greatly outnumbering their respective staffing requirements. If the committee preferences you selected are full, we will assign you to another committee that still has availability.

Please note: Volunteers may be subject to a criminal history background check and/or a motor vehicle (MVR) check based on committee assignment. All confirmed volunteers will receive an email notification when they have been assigned to a committee.

Application

Volunteers will not be placed on a committee until they have paid for their Volunteer Uniform Package. You can complete the application online by clicking here.

Question: Can I select the committee to which I want to be assigned?

Answer:  Volunteers can select up to three committee preferences on the application. Assignments are granted after volunteers pay for the Volunteer Uniform Package. Every attempt is made to assign a volunteer to one of their preferences, however some committees fill up more quickly than others. All committees are important to the championship and play a vital role in the overall success.

Question: Can I select my shifts and when will I know my volunteer schedule?

Answer: Volunteers will be asked to submit their availability for championship week in fall of 2021 and will be able to update these times until January of 2022. We will use the information collected to create the volunteer schedules for each committee. You will be notified of the dates you are scheduled to work in the spring of 2022. We will make every effort to accommodate your availability preferences; however, we cannot guarantee each request will be granted. If you are traveling from out of state and plan to make travel arrangements, please indicate that on the form.

Answer: We will attempt to assign each volunteer to one of his or her committee preferences; however, in many cases this will not be possible due to the requests for certain committees greatly outnumbering their respective staffing requirements. If the committee preferences you selected are full, we will assign you to another committee that still has availability. If you are unhappy with your committee placement or incapable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the committee, you can contact Maizee Freeman, Volunteer Coordinator at mfreeman@msgpromotions.com or (484) 223-3295 Ext. 2 to possibly be placed on a more appealing committee that still has openings.

Answer: When completing your availability, there will be an option to enter the name of another volunteer you would like to work with. We will make every effort to accommodate your pairing preferences; however, we cannot guarantee each request will be granted.

Question: Where will I park?

Answer: Each volunteer will receive a hangtag parking credential that allows them to park in a designated lot located at the intersection of Route 378 and Center Valley Parkway and take a complimentary shuttle to the championship grounds. Volunteers will have access to this lot on the days they are assigned a shift and days that they are not. More specific information about parking will be provided to volunteers closer to the championship.

Question: If I am no longer able to volunteer, may I receive a refund?

Answer: Yes, you will be issued a full refund if you can no longer volunteer. If you decide you cannot volunteer after you have received your volunteer uniform package, you will be required to return your volunteer uniform package prior to a refund being issued.
