Volunteer Committee Descriptions
The 19th Hole will be an upgraded ticket area located on the middle of the three finishing holes (16th, 17th, and 18th). Volunteers on this committee will staff the entrance points to welcome guests and verify that only those with the proper tickets/credentials gain access. Volunteers may be asked to oversee a specific area of the 19th Hole to ensure an enjoyable guest experience.
- May require early morning shifts.
- Will require standing outdoors for extended periods of time.
Admissions and Will Call Services (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned at each entrance to the championship and will monitor the admission gates to verify that only those with the proper tickets/credentials gain access to the championship. They will also assist the Championship Staff with the sale of tickets and the distribution of tickets/credentials that have been purchased in advance or left for pickup.

Caddie Services (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will guide caddies through the registration process and provide them with important information as well as equipment such as caddie bibs and towels needed for the championship.

Corporate Hospitality (100% Full):
There will be hospitality areas located near the 9th, 11th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th greens. Volunteers on this committee will monitor the entrances to the corporate hospitality areas to verify that only those with the proper tickets/credentials gain access, provide guests with directions to areas around the course, and assist the Championship Staff with client needs if necessary.

Course Evacuation (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned on the course and will provide vehicle transportation for players, caddies, standard bearers, walking scorers, and officials to/from pre-determined locations on the course in the event of severe weather.
- Must be 25 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.
- May require early morning shifts.
- Will require extended periods of time outdoors.
Courtesy Cars (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee are responsible for meeting players, officials, and other guests at the airport, club, or hotel(s), and assisting with the distribution of courtesy cars to the proper authorized recipients. If needed, the committee may be asked to assist automobile dealer representatives with the staging and numbering of courtesy vehicles during the week prior to the championship. They will also assist with the retrieval of the courtesy cars from Friday of championship week through Monday after the championship.

Disability Services (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned at the main entrance to the championship and will assist with the distribution of disability scooters, provide golf cart transportation to and from designated drop-off areas on the course and ADA grandstand viewing locations, and assist in managing the ADA grandstand viewing locations to ensure only guests with disabilities are utilizing the area.

Golf Carts (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will manage the inventory and distribution of golf carts to authorized recipients and will work with the club’s staff on the overall maintenance of carts, including cleaning, charging and general upkeep throughout championship week. Volunteers may also be asked to help with staging golf carts of various committee headquarters the weekend prior to the championship.
- Must be 25 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.

Information Services (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee help spectators navigate their way around the course and to specific locations such as hospitality facilities. These volunteers will also help distribute course maps and pairing sheets and answer any questions about the championship. They will work with the Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau to distribute information and answer questions about the Lehigh Valley.

Leaderboards (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned at a leaderboard on the course and will update the players’ scores and status on the manual leaderboards and thru boards.

- Will require the ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms.
Marshals (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be on the course and will assist in gallery control, facilitate player movement, and help locate errant shots. Marshals may also monitor capacity and assist with gallery control in the grandstands, and control crowd movement through designated crosswalks.

Member Hospitality (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned at the Saucon Valley Clubhouse and will monitor the entrances to the member hospitality area located in the clubhouse to verify that only those with the proper tickets/credentials gain access. These volunteers will also provide general championship information to members and their guests and assist them with any needs that may arise.

- Will require standing for extended periods of time.
Merchandise:
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned in the Merchandise Pavilion and will provide retail assistance including but not limited to helping to bag purchases, working as cashiers, customer service representatives, stockers, greeters, and entrance and exit monitors. Volunteers will work alongside USGA Staff, apparel vendors, and other Championship Staff.

On-Course Distribution (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be working on the golf course and will be responsible for delivering drinking water, printed materials, and other supplies to various locations throughout the championship grounds.
- Must be 25 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Will require early morning shifts.
- Will require extended periods of time outdoors.
Player Shuttles (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will provide players with golf cart transportation to various areas throughout the course including practice areas, player hospitality, the locker room, etc.
- Must be 25 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.

Practice Areas (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will assist with the management of the practice range, short game area and practice putting green. Volunteers will assist players in obtaining practice balls, placing name cards behind each player on the practice range for spectator viewing, and ensure general cleanliness of all practice areas.

Standard Bearer Leaders (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be positioned near the 1st tee and will be placing the right names and scores in the scoring sign (standard). These volunteers will also work with the standard bearers (who are between ages 14 and 21) to make sure they are in the proper position to go off with their group of players at the appropriate time.

Standard Bearers (Ages 14 to 21 ONLY - 100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will accompany each group of players during the championship rounds and will carry a scoring sign (standard) displaying each player’s score in relation to par.

- Will require walking 18 holes carrying an 8 lb. scoring sign (standard).
- Will require extended periods of time outdoors.
Volunteer Services (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee will be located at the volunteer headquarters and will be responsible for managing the Volunteer Hospitality area, assisting with volunteer check-in, and providing information to volunteers as needed.
- May require early morning shifts.
Walking Scorers (100% Full):
Volunteers on this committee provide accurate shot-by-shot and hole-by-hole information for each player and enter scores into a handheld computer terminal. They will also assist with scorecard verification and work with the standard bearer to make sure each player’s score is displayed accurately on the scoring sign (standard). Walking scorers will be required to attend mandatory on-site training and participate in a dress rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning of championship week. Volunteers will be asked to work shifts for both Round 1 and Round 2 (Thursday and Friday) and will be assigned to Rounds 3 and 4 (Saturday and Sunday) based on availability and experience.
