Tom GouldAgronomist, Central Region

Based out of the Chicagoland area, Tom will provide course consulting visits and educational outreach to golf courses throughout the region.

Prior to joining the USGA, Tom was an assistant superintendent at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois. There he integrated new software tools into the maintenance program and helped streamline course operations. He also has previous experience with the USGA as a Green Section Intern. During his internship he participated in course consulting visits, wrote Green Section Record articles and supported USGA championships.

Tom received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Iowa State University in horticulture with an emphasis in turfgrass management. While completing his master’s degree, Tom worked full-time as a research scientist, managing turfgrass areas and research trials. Additionally, he was an integral part of the field renovation and Kentucky bluegrass grow-in of Jack Trice Stadium – Iowa State’s football field. During his undergraduate career, Tom gained experience in both sports field and golf course management through internships at the Country Club of Birmingham in Alabama, the Iowa Cubs baseball team and with Iowa State University Athletics. In his free time, Tom enjoys running, being outdoors and spending time with loved ones.
