Darin Bevard is the Senior Director of Championship Agronomy for the USGA Green Section and is based out of Kennett Square, PA. He oversees agronomic preparations for USGA championships with an emphasis on open championships. He also conducts Course Consulting Service visits in the Northeast Region. Darin attends and speaks at numerous conferences and provides support for USGA communications and outreach as they relate to championships.
Bevard is a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agronomy with an emphasis on turfgrass science. Dr. Thomas Watschke was his advisor for his advanced degree studies. His thesis work concentrated on pre-emergence herbicides and their effects on creeping bentgrass and annual bluegrass.
Prior to joining the USGA, Darin worked on several golf courses in the heart of the transition zone in Maryland.
