Based in Southern California, Dr. Matteo Serena works and engages with golf courses, public and industry scientists, allied golf associations, and other stakeholders to advance water conservation on golf courses throughout the USA.
A native of Italy, Matteo received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Padua. He then earned his Ph.D. from New Mexico State University, where he continued as a research assistant professor until joining the University of California-Riverside. At UC-Riverside, he was responsible for the water and salinity management program for turfgrass in California. Matteo has over a decade of experience researching turfgrass irrigation and water conservation strategies.
